  • When the Osage took allotments, each head‑of‑household received 640 acres.
  • After land allotments were assigned, there was no “surplus land” available for non‑Indian ownership.
  • In World Wars I and II, the Osage represented the highest percentage of any ethnic group of U.S. citizens.
  • The Osage language is of Dhegihan Siouan origin.
  • The Osage were originally one people with the Kaw, Omaha, Ponca, and Quapaw.
