  • The Citizen Potawatomi reservation was open to non‑Indian settlement in 1891.
  • The Citizen Potawatomi Nation were formerly known as the Mission Band of Potawatomi Indians because of their Catholic affiliations since 1640.
  • While in Kansas, tribal members took allotments by becoming US citizens and became known as the “Citizen” Band of Potawatomi.
